Critical Deadlines: Last Chance to Apply

Don't miss the window to secure your $900 Grocery Allowance.

Status Update: Open Enrollment Period (OEP) is active.

1. The 2026 Enrollment Calendar

Medicare Advantage benefits, including the "Grocery Allowance" and "Flex Cards," are not available year-round. You must apply during specific windows authorized by CMS.

Please review the current status below to see if you can still submit an application:

Oct 15 - Dec 7 (AEP) The Annual Enrollment Period. This is the main window for everyone.
EXPIRED
Jan 1 - Mar 31 (OEP) Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period. If you are already enrolled in a plan, you have a one-time opportunity to switch to a better plan with higher food benefits during this time.
ACTIVE NOW
Year-Round (SEP) Special Enrollment Period. Available only for qualifying life events (moving, losing Medicaid, chronic conditions).

2. Did You Miss the Date? (The SEP Loophole)

Even if the main dates have passed, millions of Americans qualify for a Special Enrollment Period (SEP) without realizing it. This allows you to apply for the Grocery Allowance immediately.

You may qualify for an immediate SEP if:

  • You Moved: If you moved to a new zip code, you have 2 months to switch plans.
  • Dual Eligible: If you have both Medicare and Medicaid, you can change plans once per quarter.
  • Chronic Condition: Some areas allow enrollment into "Chronic Condition Special Needs Plans" (C-SNP) year-round.
  • 5-Star Plans: If a 5-Star rated plan is available in your area, you can switch to it at any time during the year.
Can I apply if I am only 64?

Generally, no. You must be eligible for Medicare (usually 65+) or have a qualifying disability to receive these insurance benefits.

Does it cost money to switch?

Checking your eligibility and switching plans is typically free. Many plans with Grocery Allowances are actually $0 premium plans.
