⚠️ Missing Payments? Act Quickly
Lapsed reviews or wrong bank details can block your grant. Verify today.
If your Child Support Grant payment has not arrived, there are several common reasons: your bank details may have changed, your review date may have lapsed, or your Postbank SASSA card may be blocked. Caregivers who switched to TymeBank or Capitec should confirm their updated account details with SASSA at their nearest office. You can also check your grant status using MTN MoMo or Cell C USSD services. Do not share your PIN or OTP with anyone. Visit sassa.gov.za or your nearest SASSA office to resolve payment issues without delay.
Where to Collect Your Grant 🏦
Postbank is SASSA's primary payment partner for the Child Support Grant. Your grant is loaded onto a Postbank SASSA card, which you can use at Post Offices, selected ATMs, and retailers such as Shoprite, Pick n Pay, Boxer, and Spar. If you are unsure whether your card is active, visit your nearest Post Office with your SA ID. Many caregivers in rural areas rely on Postbank as their only accessible banking point. Telkom landline users can also contact the SASSA helpline on 0800 60 10 11 at no charge to query their payment status.
Capitec Pay lets you receive your Child Support Grant directly into your Capitec account — no queues, no cash handling. Open a Capitec account with just your SA ID and update your banking details at SASSA. You can also track your deposit using Capitec instant notifications. Other digital options include FNB eWallet, TymeBank, and SnapScan-linked wallets. Caregivers on MTN can use MTN MoMo as an alternative. The Capitec GlobalOne card also works at retailers nationwide, giving you flexible access to your grant funds.

To apply for the Child Support Grant, visit your nearest SASSA office in person. Bring your SA ID (green barcoded ID book or Smart ID card), the child's birth certificate, and proof of your income and address. If you are banking with Capitec or TymeBank, bring your account details so SASSA can load your payment directly. When is the Child Support Grant paid each month and how much is it in 2026?
In 2026, the Child Support Grant is R580 per qualifying child per month, effective from April 2026 following the February Budget Speech — this amount is subject to confirmation in the next Budget Speech. SASSA pays Child Support Grant on the third payment day of each month, after Older Persons and Disability grants. The June 2026 payment was confirmed for 04/06/2026. You can check your payment date via the SASSA website, by calling 0800 60 10 11, or through your Capitec Pay, MTN MoMo, or Vodacom banking app. Postbank SASSA cardholders can check their balance at any ATM or Post Office. Payment dates for the full 2026/27 cycle are published on sassa.gov.za.
Why has my Child Support Grant payment not arrived and what can I do?
If your Child Support Grant has not arrived, the most common reasons are: your bank account details have changed and were not updated with SASSA; your SASSA card is blocked or expired; or your annual review has lapsed. Caregivers who moved from Postbank to Capitec, TymeBank, or FNB eWallet must update their banking details at a SASSA office with their SA ID and new account number. Never share your PIN, OTP, or ID number with anyone claiming to process your grant — this is a common scam in South Africa. You can also query your payment status by dialling the SASSA toll-free line on 0800 60 10 11 from any Vodacom, MTN, or Cell C number at no charge.
